Let's go with details:-

1.Ajodhya Hill:- One of the famous destinations of West Bengal, Ajodhya Hills is an extended part of the Dalma Hills and the Eastern Ghat region. It is located in Bagmundi which is in the Purulia district of West Bengal. It attracts a lot of tourists over the years of different ages. It is one of the favorite places for nature lovers as well as for a perfect weekend getaway also.

Though it can be visited at any time of the year, the best time is considered to be the winter. The place is sure to mesmerize you with the varied landscape of hills, dense forests, and waterfalls. The tribal people add to the general scenic of the place.

There are different activities such as trekking and rock climbing that are offered on the hill which is sure to test your adrenaline rush. If you want to start your journey as a mountaineer then this is the perfect place to start.

2. Pathar Khadaan(Marble Lake):- It is an artificial lake. It is a rocky area from where rocks were used to build the dams in the area. Dynamites were used to break these rocks.

Amazing place.Very beautiful and serene place.

Out of the world..can't describe in words, the beauty of this place.

3.Bamni Falls:- A very big and grand waterfall. Worth the effort as it involved going down some 600 meters downhill to reach it. It is so beautiful a place. I will cherish this experience for a long time.

It is really difficult to think of a place in nature that is still there with its raw beauty, without any interference of human activities. Once you leave the dusty roads of cities and towns and take the turn towards the ‘Laal Maatir Desh’(land of red soil), you will get amazed by the jaw-dropping view of the district.

The scene indicates the unblemished purity of nature when not ravaged by human habitation. It represents the vitality, spirit, and enjoyment of nature.

The air is damp and moist. The smell is of spruce trees that surround the waterfall and stream and of the soggy, wet air. The sound of flowing water is all that can be heard.

(View from Bamini Falls)

The water, making its way around, over and through the rocks, makes a beautiful noise.

The whole area brings an uplifting feeling. It is an area to connect with one’s inner soul and to raise one’s spirits. A place to sit, daydream, and simply enjoy the uniqueness of the peaceful, serene nature which is becoming rare.

4.Upper Dam and Lower Dam:-Very airy and beautiful place.Ideal for clicking pics. We clicked quite a few!!

If you are planning to visit Purulia, make it on weekends so that you get time for a picnic. Yes, in winter Purulia will appear in its beautiful form. And this is also the best season for a picnic. If you are looking for the best picnic spot, PPSP upper dam area is the best you can get.

The natural extravaganza of this place will mesmerize you completely. PPSP stands for Purulia Pumped Storage Project that has been installed for the first time in India with the loan assistance from Japan Bank of International Corporation. This is India’s only international pump storage project that has brought fame to Purulia.

PPSP Upper Dam is located on the way from Ajodhya to Baghmundi. This is a long-distance and you can stop in the middle way to enjoy the ecstatic beauty of this place. You can have a family picnic over here. The streets of red soil and the blooming ‘Palash’ and ‘Krishnachura' trees create the perfect silhouette to enjoy.

If you want to have a break in your journey, then park your car near PPSP Upper Dam and enjoy the beauty of the place. There is also PPSP Lower Dam to enjoy the place.

5. Chorida Village:- You must have seen or heard about the famous ‘Chhau’ masks of Purulia. These masks are mainly used by the ‘Chhau’ dancers of the district. The masks are so vivid and beautiful that people often buy them as an artifact for their house. These masks are really a work of art.
Around 250 artisans are involved in this art and that is also their livelihood. This is a traditional livelihood of the people of Charida that has a rich history of 150 years.

History:- The tradition of making Chau masks started in Charida about 150 years back during the rule of King Madan Mohan Singh Deo of Baghmundi. The vibrant, colorful, and elaborate masks convey the vigorous intent of the art form that portrays animals or characters from the epics.

6.Pakhi Pahar:-No birds can be seen as I wrongly expected by the name. But it was unique for me as birds were drawn on the surfaces of these mountains!
The story of ‘Pakhi Pahar’ (Birds Hill) is the story of sheer dedication and determination. Yes, once you meet Chitta Dey, the architect of this enormous beauty, you will know how true this is. This part of Ajodhya Hills was threatened by the Maoist Activities. And that’s why the place was getting abandoned. It was Chitta Dey, the alumni of the Government Art College, Kolkata, who turned the place into a great tourist destination for people of Bengal and also from the neighboring states.

When he started the project, he had only Rs 12 in his pocket and the ‘crazy’ tag on him. Years went on and now the State Government has secured an amount of Rs 3 crore for the project. Not only he has beautified the place for the tourists, but, he also thought of the problem of unemployment in that area.

7.Mayur Hills:-Another breathtaking spot with amazing views and serenity.Must visit! Picnic spot for nearby people!

Mayur Pahar is the extended version of the great Ajodhya Hill. Why the name is ‘Mayur Pahar’? Actually, this place was once famous for roaming peacocks. You can get to see a few of them till today if you are lucky.

If you are going from Purulia, it will take 1 hr 20min approx to reach there. The distance is 42km. and the road condition is quite well to drive. If you are making a trip with your friends, then you can enjoy the trip to the fullest.

Once you are in Mayur Pahar, you can enjoy nature to its fullest while the dense forest will give you the taste of adventure. Not only for nature lovers, but trekkers also love this place as it gives enough adrenaline rush to them.

8.Murguma Dam and Lake: -A dam built on Murguma lake. The water from this lake is put in a canal for irrigational usage!!
Very beautiful place.Picnic spot for locals.

There are lots of rivers and streams in Purulia. Obviously, you will find several dams over there. Muruguma Dam is definitely one of those beautiful dams which are the must-visit while you are in Purulia. The natural beauty of that place will grab all your attention when you are there. Actually, Muruguma is the village where the dam is located over the Saharjor River. According to the local people, it means ‘the Home for the Peacocks’.

The lake is surrounded by forests and hillocks and creates an astounding beauty to visit. Muruguma Village and Dam are located at the foothills of the Ajodhya Hill and also quite near the famous tribal village, Begunkodar.

9.Deulghata temple:-An ancient dilapidated Jain temple.Must visit if you are in Ayodhya. Unexplored history awaits for u here. Durga maa and Venkateshwara idols are here to be seen.

Purulia has a rich historical background that each time attracts the history buffs from different parts of the state and also from outside. Deulghata Temple is one the epitome of such historical relics that whispers the history of the forgotten time to its visitors.

Literally, ‘Deulghata’ means ‘The Land of Temples’. The temple of Deulghata is proof of the impact of Jainism in Purulia. Located on the banks of Kasai River, there were three brick temples of Jains holding the architecture of that age.

10. Khairabera Dam:- Only 70km away from Purulia, Khairebera Dam is the pleasant tourist spot where you will like to spend your day with friends and family. You can choose to visit the area in springtime when the Palash trees will be in full bloom and the red-colored flowers set the nature in the fire.

Khairabera Dam is an irrigation dam that is located on the slopes of the Ajodhya Hills and amidst the forest of Baghmundi. The ecstatic scenic beauty of the place will mesmerize you instantly.

You can also see the vast water body at the foothills of Barra and Chemto Hills. A night in Khairabera Dam Area will give you a thrilling experience of spending a night in the forest. When the night comes and tranquility prevails around you, you can listen to the natural symphony of barking deer, bears, leopards, elephants and peacocks.
(In Frame Mona Dada)

11.Sita Kund:- Sita Kunda is located in Bagandi village under Ajodhya Gram Panchyat at Baghmundi Block of Purulia district of West Bengal.
Sita Kund is a place which is associated with the classic Ramayana.

According to Hindu mythology, Rama and Sita had come to Ayodhya Hills and stayed during their exile. Sita was thirsty and Ram pierced an arrow through the Earth's soil crust and through that pristine freshwater springs and streams gushed out. Sita quenched her thirst. The place is known as Sita-Kunda.

12. Usuldungri Sunrise Point :- It is sunrise between mountains. There is beautiful watchtower for the sunrise view.

           (Newly constructed Watchtower)

A Morning at Panchghagh Falls (Trip/ Travel Blog #06)

Welcome Pals,

Panchghagh Falls is 5 kilometers from Khunti and about is 55 kilometers from Ranchi. It is the collective name for a group of five waterfalls formed in a row due to the breaking up of the Banai River. Many tourists visiting Ranchi are attracted here due to its eternal beauty, pristine surroundings, and calm atmosphere.

Unlike Jonha and Hundru Falls, Panchghagh’s water does not fall from great heights. Still, one can almost hear the roar of the water when one arrives near it because all the five branched-out and swirling streams hit the rocks in a very turbulent manner. It’s a treat to watch and hear.
.

In spite of the presence of a large number of high waterfalls in the area, the Panchghagh Falls is a tourist preference for being viewed as the safest of all. The waterfalls from a lesser height, making it safe for tourists to enjoy the rapid flow of water. Most of the people arrive here for a picnic with family and friends.
